Lord Ripon (1880-1884)

  1. 1881 - regular census started- after that every 10 years gap

  2. 1881 - introduced factory act

  3. 1882 - removed vernacular press act

4. 1883 - introduced Ilbert bill*

5. Increased age for civil exams from 19 to 21

6. Started local self government.

7. Florence Nightingale called "Ripon, the savior of India".

8. Educational reform committee in the leardership of William Hunter.


*Ilbert bill couldn't be pass as it said, " Indian judges could try Europeans" . so every European opposed this.
